Here are some helpful tips and flavor options for preparing the perfect King Reys loose leaf yerba mate brew for you. To prepare King Reys loose leaf yerba mate, fill your gourd (or your preferred cup) about two-thirds full with the leaves. Tilt the gourd to create a slope, and pour a small amount of cool water on the lower side. This helps preserve the nutrients and prevent the leaves from burning. Once the leaves absorb the water, insert the bombilla (metal straw with filter) and pour hot water, ideally between 150°F and 160°F, to avoid bitterness.

Cold brew - Tereré

For a refreshing cold brew, known as 'tereré', simply substitute cold water or juice for hot. Add ice cubes and your choice of fruits like citrus slices or berries for a delightful twist. You can also experiment with herbs such as mint or chamomile for added flavor. Pour the flavored water into the cup and add ice cubes. Insert a bombilla (metal straw with a filter) into the cup, filter-end down, drink and enjoy.

Brew with Tea Infuser or Tea bag

To brew King Reys loose leaf yerba mate, use 1 to 1.5 tablespoons per cup of water, adjusting to your taste. Heat the water to around 170°F and pour it over the tea infuser or tea bag. Allow it to steep for 5 to 7 minutes. Avoid boiling water, it can produce a bitter taste.
